Writing or updating your resume can be challenging. Most people make the mistake of writing their resume to mimic their current and previous job descriptions. STOP! Potential employers DO NOT want to see what your current or last job expected of you. They want to see what you accomplished in your last position and what transferable skills you possess. You will have plenty of time to discuss your job duties during the interview, so make your resume DEMAND an interview!
It does not hurt to have an awesome cover letter as well, one that is tailored to the position you are applying to. Does this mean you have to create an entirely separate one each time??? NO. You can create a template cover letter describing all of your skills. Just make sure to play up the skills that are highly requested for the position you are applying to.
